the amazing adventures of me and a book
i'm almost finished reading a book. B-O-O-K.
remember books, blogfreaks? they're like blogs but on paper. and without all the self-indulgent exhibitionist nerds-are-the-new-black cynicism*.
i have thoroughly enjoyed the book in question, and might even go so far as to list it among my top ten. along with the 400 other books i have proclaimed as such. its a very exclusive list.
i write now, however, not to describe this fabulous work of fiction, but instead to share my pride with you all in my achievement of having almost finished absorbing it.
this is the first book i have read in over a year. since my father died. and my mother got cancer. and my world fell apart. and i stopped being able to concentrate on anything for more than 5 minutes at a time.
and so you see, its quite the accomplishment for me.
but now i am not sure if i want to finish the book at all. because what if this is it, and its the only book i will ever read again? maybe instead i should prolong it, like a good meal or a first kiss. and then maybe i'll never have to feel like an illiterate junkie with a-d-d again.
maybe...
*and those are the good ones.

no no no, the appropriate way to come back from any lapse in action is to enter a mania:- start consuming everything you can get your hands on, doesn't matter if you enjoy it just keep on doing it. the mania comes to drive your whole life, each new epsiode being the only event that defines one moment of your life from the other. keep on consuming till it swallows you whole and you can nestle on the soft velvet cushions inside the warm belly of your mania, whre no one can get you
sorry what were we talking about again? books? oh yeah books are good...
elo
book? book? was the secret history? tell me is was? was it? can i have that back now? p.s. elo: me thinks someone has spent to much time studying thier psych textbook. bok bok (like a chicken).
it is not 'the secret history'. that is sitting on my night table, protecting me from evil while i sleep. no, this book is 'the amazing adventures of kavalier and clay', and it is awesome. and seth from 'the o.c' also loves it. and he is a hottie. and yes, thats right, i have watched 'the o.c' on occasion. and i know its bad, but i can't help it. and therefore stay tuned to nadstown for 'reasons people might think i'm sad # 2'.
>and yes, that's right, i have watched 'the o.c' on occasion.
not accurate. 'she devined the future not for lotto numbers or traffic reports but so watch 'the o.c.' is the truth. i know you, remember?
are you on drugs, crazy lady?
Cav & Clay is wonderful
What a fantastic book. Michael Chabon is truly talented. What part are you up to?
Also, can you send a detailed account of any and all the Ms. Fits activity you get caught up in while she's in Sydney? Seriously, it's for a good cause. It can be video, audio or just pictures with explanations on the back. heymattmartin@yahoo.com - cheers
P.S.
Seriously... something.
kranki my love, should the lady in question so allow it, you will be well informed of the events of wednesday evening. unless of course the events of wednesday evening involve activities that would make paris hilton blush. in which case i will send you a series of elaborate yet still believable lies.
p.s. i have finished reading kavalier and clay and am no longer sure what it was i did with my time before i started reading it. pure genius it is.
Oi, you two. Stop talking about me behind my back. It is both incredibly rude and vaguely arousing.
